Health Benefits Series: Roses

Health Benefits Series: Roses

It’s obvious we love roses. Who doesn’t?

If you’re a fan of ours, you may have noticed that it’s a floral note included in four of our teas.

Though our blends are quite beautiful to look at, we didn’t add rose for aesthetic reasons. We added it as a curated ingredient because of its ayurvedic benefits.

What do you think of when you think of roses?

Do you think of romance? Does it take you to a gorgeous garden?

Ever notice how having roses in your space makes you feel a little bit better when you see them?

As cliche as it sounds, there’s something about the scent. The phrase ‘stop and smell the roses’ isn’t a coincidence!

Its qualities are often associated with the heart and balancing the emotions. It’s often used as an ingredient to beautify. But it can also calm the nerves as well.

For those that are skeptical, science is starting to confirm what India has known for centuries: roses are powerful and beneficial to your health. Read on to find out how adding this gorgeous tea to your daily rituals can improve the quality of your life.

Clearer Skin

In Ayurveda, rose is considered a cooling herb that brings balance to all dosha types. Because of its cooling effects, it works as an anti-inflammatory. For those that suffer from acne, rosacea, or even eczema, there may be some positive results by drinking rose tea.

Many claim that drinking rose tea and even rose water have led to amazing results for the skin. While scientists say the claims are dubious, they can’t deny that roses are filled with antioxidants. It’s antioxidants that fight free radicals and fight the effects of aging which keep you looking young and vibrant.

It leads to skin rejuvenation and keeps your complexion looking radiant. No expensive skin care products required!

Balance Your Mood

Are you someone that can be a little hot-headed? Do your passionate feelings get the better of you?  For those with fiery emotions (Looking at you, Aries), roses may be the balm you need to take a step back and breathe.

In Ayurveda, it’s said that roses are exactly what is needed to turn anger into forgiveness. Think about it. Have you ever been angry after receiving a bouquet of roses or smelling their beautiful fragrance?

Ancient Vedics called the rose “The King of Flowers”. Perhaps it’s thanks to Ayurvedic tradition that we still associate roses with romantic feelings and the heart.

Roses have a soothing quality to them that is so powerful, we calm down from their scent alone. Part of rose’s ayurvedic benefits is cooling not only to the body, but also to the mind. Taking a brief moment to enjoy the scent of your tea is beneficial in soothing anxiety.

Stay Heart Healthy

For those that are familiar with the seven chakras, it’s no surprise that roses are associated with the heart chakra. It’s thought to keep this chakra open and keep the heart healthy energetically and physically.

If that sounds a little far out there for you, then know that rose is full of antioxidants. Having a diet rich in antioxidants helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. By including rose tea as part of your regular diet, it can maintain healthy circulation in the body.

You may feel some of the soothing effects with one cup of tea. But consistency is key when it comes to these benefits. Make Priya’s Teas part of your daily ritual. Whether it’s waking up, winding down, or anything in between. Find your inner peace and feel the effects inside and out.
